Nord Security Expands ISO 27001 Coverage Across Its Business Suite

Nord Security has confirmed that four products within its business security suite now carry ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification, the internationally recognized benchmark for information security management. NordLayer and NordPass renewed certification they have held since 2021, while NordLayer Intelligence by NordStellar and NordLayer Browser earned the designation for the first time. The audits, conducted by certification body SERTIKA, found no nonconformities across any of the four products.

What ISO 27001 Actually Verifies

ISO 27001 is not a marketing badge; it is a structured framework that obliges an organization to build, document, and continuously refine an information security management system, or ISMS. The standard rests on three pillars - confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data - and certification is granted only after an external auditor examines how an organization actually handles risk, not merely how it describes its intentions on paper. For a company selling network security, password management, and browsing tools to businesses, this distinction matters: enterprise clients are effectively trusting these platforms with credentials, network traffic, and internal data, so an independently verified management system offers assurance that goes beyond a vendor's own claims.

The renewal process is also telling. Certification is not permanent; it requires periodic reassessment, meaning an organization's security posture is checked repeatedly rather than validated once and left unexamined. NordLayer and NordPass have now passed that recurring scrutiny every year since 2021, which suggests a sustained operational discipline rather than a one-time compliance exercise.

Why Newer Products Needed Their Own Certification

NordLayer Intelligence by NordStellar, a threat exposure management platform, and NordLayer Browser, an enterprise browser, joined the suite after NordLayer and NordPass were already established. Each product handles distinct categories of sensitive information - threat intelligence data in one case, browsing activity and session data in the other - so each required its own independent audit rather than inheriting certification from sibling products. The fact that both passed without nonconformities, receiving only recommendations, indicates the security architecture was built with the standard's requirements in mind from the outset rather than retrofitted afterward.

The Broader Stakes for Business Security Tools

Enterprise security products occupy a particular position of exposure: they are deployed precisely because organizations want to reduce risk, yet the tools themselves become attractive targets, since compromising a password manager or network access platform can expose an entire organization's data at once. This is why independent verification carries more weight in this category than in most consumer software. A vendor's internal assurances are difficult for an outside business to evaluate; a recognized external certification offers a common reference point that procurement teams and security officers can actually assess.

Andrius Buinovskis, VP of product strategy at NordLayer, framed the certification as a reflection of how security considerations are embedded across the company's expanding portfolio. That portfolio now includes five products in total, with the recent addition of NordLayer AI Scout, an AI visibility and security tool introduced in October 2026. As organizations adopt a growing number of interconnected security tools, consistent certification across each component becomes less a formality and more a practical necessity for maintaining trust in the system as a whole.
